Welcome to

Medical Group

VIPMD is the result of a vision to provide an all-in one solution for patients that are lost in the complex world of healthcare. Far too often patients find themselves being pushed from one doctor to another to another only to end up waiting weeks or months before they have an answer, prescription, therapy or surgery.

Here’s how we can help

VIPMD believes that they are one step closer to helping solve the problem that patients, insurance plans, employers, hospitals and the complex healthcare systems seek.

Establishing a comprehensive coordinated care program is our way of integrating various specialties under one roof holding ourselves accountable for the care and continuity of a treatment plan for our patients that is evidenced based and not based on economic gains. In short, we subscribe to the pay for performance model that allows doctors to provide quality care.

Primary care includes health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, counseling, patient education, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses and disease. Primary care is performed and managed by collaborating with other health professionals, and utilizing the referral process in an efficient manner.

Primary care provides patient advocacy in the health care system to accomplish cost-effective care by coordination of health care services. Primary care promotes effective communication with patients and encourages the role of the patient as a partner in health care. VIPMD internal medicine program is designed to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases that afflict all adults, from chronically ill patients, to short-term care. Our internal medicine program has physicians that also specialize in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Lifestyle Management

Evidence-based Lifestyle Medicine should be the first-treatment option to prevent, treat and reverse chronic disease. Our internal medicine team focuses on chronic disease management and prevention; however, their focus is also health restoration. VIPMD understands that behavioral health and sound medical care can provide for a healthy lifestyle.

Behavioral Health

Behavioral health describes the connection between behaviors and the health and well-being of the body, mind and spirit. This would include how behaviors like eating habits, drinking or exercising impact physical or mental health.

As a discipline, behavioral health refers to mental health, psychiatric, marriage and family counseling and addictions treatment, and it includes services provided by social workers, counselors, psychiatrists, neurologists and physicians. Behavioral health also includes both mental health and substance use, encompassing a continuum of prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery support services.

Women’s Health and Breast Health

VIPMD breast health program provides personalized, comprehensive and compassionate care for patients with breast disease and breast cancer. We offer advanced screening, prevention, diagnostic and treatment services, as well as comprehensive education and support programs. Our provider team assures that each patient benefits from an accurate diagnosis and a customized, comprehensive care plan.

Using a collaborative approach, our team develops treatment plans for both cancerous, non-cancerous conditions and cosmetic concerns, based upon your unique diagnosis and development, overall condition and personal preferences.
During your visit, our highly-trained healthcare professionals which include nurses, therapists, psychologists and others will be involved in your care. Genetic counseling and high-risk care are also available if the need arises for those families that require these services.

Pain Management

Pain management is a branch of medicine that applies science to the reduction of pain. It covers a wide spectrum of conditions, including neuropathic pain, sciatica, postoperative pain, and more. Pain management is a rapidly growing medical specialty that takes a multi-disciplinary approach to treating all kinds of pain. “We evaluate, rehabilitate and treat people in pain.” We don’t believe that taking oral medication is the answer for pain. Rather it is a multidisciplinary approach with counseling, acupuncture, chiropractic treatment, physiotherapy, and epidural injections when needed. Our goal is to use little or no narcotics if possible.

Neurosurgery/Neurology

Neurosurgeons and Neurologists are principal care providers when a patient has a neurologic disorder that requires frequent care. These professionals commonly assume a consulting role for primary care physicians in the case of stroke, concussion, or headache. Neurologists do not perform surgery, but may refer patients requiring surgery to a neurosurgeon or spine surgeon. In the case of surgery, a neurologist may continue to monitor and supervise treatment.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with injury to, or diseases/disorders of the brain, spinal cord and spinal column, and peripheral nerves within all parts of the body. The specialty of neurosurgical care includes both adult and pediatric patients. Dependent upon the nature of the injury or disease a neurological surgeon may provide surgical and/or non-surgical care.

Our surgeons believe in the least invasive interventions to solve the most complex of surgical problems.

Podiatry

The sphere of the treatment our podiatrists provide is limited only to the ankle and foot areas. Our podiatrists often treat ingrown toenails, calluses, fallen arches, heel spurs and problems related to abuse or injury, diabetic related complications and traumatic injuries. They may employ surgical methods and other non-surgical means related to the foot or ankle problems.

Chiropractic Care

VIPMD Chiropractors perform spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments. The belief is that proper alignment of the body’s musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine, will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication. Manipulation is used to restore mobility to joints restricted by tissue injury caused by a traumatic event, such as falling, or repetitive stress, such as sitting without proper back support.

Chiropractic treatment is primarily used as a pain relief alternative for muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissue, such as cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. It is sometimes used in conjunction with conventional medical treatment.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a complementary medical practice that entails stimulating certain points on the body, most often with a needle penetrating the skin, to alleviate pain or to help treat various health conditions.

Developed centuries ago in China, numerous recent studies conducted by scientists in Europe and the United States have found that acupuncture is at least moderately effective in treating pain and nausea. Acupuncture and Chiropractic care are both utilized in our pain management program.

Advanced Wound Care

Our providers were the first in Kern county to provide an advanced wound care program that featured hyperbaric oxygen therapy.  We provide advanced wound care techniques for patients that have complex wounds from head to toe.  Our definition of advanced is true to its meaning: we utilize the latest technology, biologic products and grafts, off-loading devices, surgical techniques for reconstruction and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

We also provide care for those patients that are paraplegics (wheelchair bound). Our wound care program is only matched by university programs such as UCLA or Stanford.

We have a robust referral process with state-of-the-art facilities such as Rancho Los Amigos in Southern California and The Buncke Clinic in San Francisco.

Skilled Nursing Facility Wound Care Program

The advanced wound care program has providers that make regular visits to area skilled nursing facilities and provide wound care evaluations and pre-surgical evaluations for those patients that cannot be transferred to visit an outpatient wound care facility due to limitations by the Medicare program.

Our team also performs routine “skin sweeps” for prevention and control of ulcers or skin trauma that may occur to our delicate and valuable geriatric population.

Transgender and LGBTQ

VIPMD providers are one of the first medical group to provide care for the transgender and LGBTQ community and have done this type of care for years. Initially, the treatment was for the male to female population for breast augmentation and for female to male for mastectomy (breast removal) surgical procedures. Soon, the demand grew for more services and our highly trained plastic surgeons continued to provide care for the patients as they continued their journey through the maze of care from behavioral, endocrine, and other medical subspecialties.

Sex reassignment surgery (SRS), also known as gender reassignment surgery (GRS) and several other names, is a surgical procedure (or procedures) by which a transgender person’s physical appearance and function of their existing sexual characteristics are altered to resemble those socially associated with their identified gender. It is part of a treatment for gender dysphoria in transgender people.( https://www.thecenterbak.org/)

The joy of seeing a patient satisfied from their transformation is unmatched and we are happy to be a part of this special process.

Durable Medical Equipment

Medical equipment is often required by many patients; however, it requires a complex process of individuals, paperwork, manufacturers, and other unforeseen issues to complete the task before the device is acquired by the patient.

These devices may include, oxygen tents, Nebulizers, CPAP, catheters, hospital beds, blood-testing strips and blood glucose monitors and wheelchairs (which may include a power-operated vehicle that may be appropriately used as a wheelchair).

Our coordinated care program is designed to help patients obtain the equipment they need without having to go to several different locations and offices to get such equipment.

Home Health Nursing Program

Our affiliation with Around the Clock home health nursing staff allows VIPMD to provide care for patients in their homes and to perform various tasks if patients and /or their families are unable to care for themselves. Integrating these skills as well as performing task-based services are part of our Around the Clock home health nursing program
